August Meeting Report
The meeting was moved to Papa's Pizza Parlor in Beaverton due to sick children. It was a very very good meeting. We discussed in more detail what needs to be done for the Zombie event in October. We looked at all of the amazing carved stamps we already have done, and at the log books. It was a small group with Kuku, Red Fox, Inkwell and myself The D.A.D. of the Oregon Head Hunters who attended. Most of our time was filled with making baggies and enjoying each others company. We are all so excited for the October event we hope to see you all there.

May 2013 Meeting
It has been a very long time since the last time I had posted. The new news is we are hosting a Halloween event on October 12, 2013. It will be a night boxing event that is themed around ZOMBIES! How cool is that. We are working on a location and we all are very excited. Some sad new to report, one of our own members of the club is leaving to move to Florida. Frykitty you will be missed, and maybe she could set up a sister club in Florida for us. Last month the club was involved with the Lucky Box Event that was a huge success. It was lots of fun. I will keep you posted on new happenings with the club, and at least post once a month. Thank you so much for your support and until next time, keep boxing.

There were also some special stamps that were on our Christmas Tree and I also pulled out The Nightmare Before Christmas HIPS. The First Official Letterboxing Club Meeting, Cancelled
Because of snow our meeting was cancelled this month, but next month on the 26th at 1:00 p.m. we will try again. This time it will be at a new location that is more central for people, hopefully. One of the things I wanted to discuss at this months meeting was how to make a reusable envelope for postals. Good news everyone I posted step by step instruction on just that.
Holy Cow it's SNOWING! In Portland? That white blotch in front of the car is an extreme close up of a snow flake. |
What you will need is a standard size bubble mailer. |
Some packing tape,a pair of scissors, and the address of the person you are sending the postal to. |
First add your address and your return address to the envelope. |
Second start engulfing the entire envelope with see through packing tape. |
Tape all around the front... |
and the back until it is all wrapped up. |
Then cut out and fold your senders address, this is so you can send out a quisp if you want to this makes a nice little pocket |
Now add tape. |
As you can see the tab in the left corner of the senders address label. |
Remember the pocket here is a quisp along for the ride. |
Now add the letter box. |
Do not I repeat Do Not Remove this adhesive strip. |
You need to create your own adhesive strip by rolling up a piece of packing tape. |
And here it is the new adhesive strip you made. |
Seal it up. |
Add more tape to close it. |
It's closed, sealed, and ready to be mailed. |
Remember that tab here it is in action. |
If your reusable envelope is done right the envelope will not tear, but the address label might. That's okay. |

The First Official Letterboxing Club Meeting
The First Official Letterboxing Club Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. It will be a potluck so if you are able to attend bring your favorite dish. The address for the meeting is: 11160 SE 242nd Ave., Damascus, OR. 97089. Things that will be discussed at the meeting will be: code of conduct, letterboxing 101, the club's future goals, uniform and awards, and we might even carve a little if time permits. There will also be a question and answer session. It will be held as a mini event with structure. There will also be a couple of stamps to collect that otherwise will not be available at any other time. We encourage all to come especially those veteran letterboxers who could teach us a thing or two. So come enjoy the fun filled world of letterboxing with us and join a club that is devoted to the growth and education of letterboxing to others in Oregon. Until next time remember get out there and Letterbox Like Crazy!
Our Second Unofficial Letterboxing Club Meeting
Yesterday we had our second unofficial Oregon Letterboxing Club Meeting. All who attended last time returned along with two new members with a total of eleven people. We worked on carving techniques and gave people a chance to carve their own stamps. It was a rocky start at first because most of the members hadn't carved before; but after a while they began to get the hang of it all and carved some very nice stamps. I brought my Nightmare Before Christmas Letterbox Series that will also be at the 2011 Pacific Northwest Ornament Exchange on December 17th. I did this to give others who weren't able to attend the exchange on the 17th a chance to get this series. It was a great meeting that introduced new members to the wonderful world of stamp carving, and that means that in the very near future Oregon will have new letterboxes to find.

Our First Unofficial Letterboxing Club Meeting
On November 20th, 2011 we had an unofficial word of mouth letterboxing club meeting. We had the meeting to work out some bugs and to get a feel on how the meeting was going to run. Counting myself we had nine people attend. Things we talked about were: What is Letterboxing, Letterboxing 101, DO's and Don't of letterboxing, Atlas Quest questions and functions, The Letterboxers companion, What a letterbox, a cootie and a hitchhiker look like, What a clue looks like and their differences, and putting together a letterbox hunters kit. We treated it as a mini letterboxing event. We also went out letterboxing, but came back empty handed. That's the nature of the beast sometimes you win and sometimes you get skunked. There were 3 stamps that Newbies were able to stamp in their new logbook. All in all it was a good get together. We are going to have one more unofficial meeting before the Official meeting on December 4th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. At this meeting we will introduce people to the wonderful world of stamp carving. If you would like to attend message me on atlasquest.com under Oregon Head Hunters, and we'll see if we can get you in. I'm sure there'll be no problem. We also hit a100 letterbox finds yesterday, we are so excited. Until next time, Letterbox Like Crazy.
